The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6

The First Letter of

St. Paul to Timothy

Chapter 6

¹ Let all who are under the yoke of slavery regard their masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be blasphemed.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verse 1)

Only for Your sake and in order to respect Your teaching and in keeping the faith may we obey and honor Amen.

² Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful to them on the ground that they are members of the church; rather they must serve them all the more since those who benefit by their service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these duties

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verse 2)

Oh God my Father, what I do I do for You and not for the people of the world, even if they are my masters and superiors. Help me please to show them the same love care and obedience that I show to You even though at times I am found weak and imperfect Amen.

³ Whoever teaches otherwise and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that is in accordance with godliness, ⁴ is conceited, understanding nothing, and has a morbid craving for controversy and for disputes about words. From these come envy, dissension, slander, base suspicions, ⁵ and wrangling among those who are depraved in mind and bereft of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verses 3 to 5)

Oh God my Father even though I do not agree with the Roman Catholic Church about the annulment of marriages, I still believe in You and Your teachings Amen.

⁶ Of course, there is great gain in godliness combined with contentment; ⁷ for we brought nothing into the world, so that we can take nothing out of it;⁸ but if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.

((The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verses 6 to 8)

Oh God, my Father, I thank You for Your providence, for providing me with the basic essentials and even more in order for me to survive in this world. I pray that I do not end up caught in the ways of the world that are conditioned by gains and riches in order for one to feel more financially secure or wealthy Amen. My security and wealth are in You my God and Father and it is in You that I place my trust. Amen.

⁹ But those who want to be rich fall into the temptation and are trapped by many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verse 9)

Oh God, my Father I thank You for all that You have provided me with, for all my debts, for everything. I thank You for being my God and Father, for in You alone I have found my riches and security Amen. Thanks, Jesus.

¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verse 10)

Oh God my Father, I pray that You continue to make me happy with all the earnings that You have provided me with and to never seek to grow in fame and power Amen.

¹¹ But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verse 11)

Oh God, my Father, I pray that You give us the motivation and strength to practice such holy and positive ways. I pray for healing in those areas that are still weak and graces for those areas that are already according to Your will Amen.

¹² Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and for which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verse 12)

Oh God, my Father I thank You for this encouraging invitation, to live my baptism, to refuse and reject all that comes from the evil one and to be united in Your body Amen.

¹³ In the  presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you ¹⁴ to keep the commandment without spot or blame until the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ, ¹⁵ which he will bring about at the right time-he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verses 13 to 15)

Amen Oh God my Father the commandment of Love is above all the commandments because it covers all the commandments. By means of Your help only we can succeed in loving ourselves, Yourself and others especially those with whom we do not agree with Amen.

¹⁶ It is he alone who has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see; to him be honor and eternal dominion Amen.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verse 16)

Amen to You be the honour and glory forever and ever Amen my God and Father, may You be praised and worshipped in all areas of the world. Everything existing is under Your control and nothing takes place without Your knowledge Amen. Thanks, Jesus.

¹⁷ As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verse 17)

Oh God my Father please teach us to be humble and to depend on You and not only on our skills and resources, for all that we know and all that we have is not our own but given to us by You for the good and service of ourselves and most importantly for being of help to others Amen.

¹⁸ They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share, ¹⁹ thus storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life that really is life.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verse 18 to 19)

Oh brothers and sisters on reflecting on these verses I imagine a power bank full of good deeds and generous acts towards others, that will be redeemed in graces upon the time of our death. Such acts will appear before You my God and Father and consider them even though we also have our share of sins Amen.

²⁰ Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid the profane chatter and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge; ²¹ by professing it some have missed the mark as regards the faith. Grace be with you.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 6 verse 20 to 21)

Oh God, my Father I thank You for the messages found in the bible, for they are like vitamins to both the body and graces for the soul. I pray that we are not corrupted by the knowledge of the world, but helped by that same knowledge to keep on believing and keeping the flame of faith blazing Amen.

I would like to end this meditation on the 6th chapter of the First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy with the following prayer:-

Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord God Jesus Christ, in the name of God I put on You the responsibility and on myself the duty of obeying the Word of God and of proclaiming it to others. It is our duty to proclaim and defend this treasure Amen. Thank You Jesus.

The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5

The First Letter of

St. Paul to Timothy

Chapter 5

¹ Do not speak harshly to an older man, but speak to him as to a father, to younger men as brothers, ² to older women as mothers, to younger women as sisters with absolute purity.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verses 1 to 2)

Oh God my blessed Father, I thank You for these verses, I feel that You emphasizing that I be empathetic and understanding to both the young and the old and show love, care and respect to all. Amen. Thank You, Jesus.

³ Honor widows who are really widows.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 3)

Oh God, my beloved Father, I thank You for the lessons of life that You have taught me throughout these forty-six years of my life. Thank You for putting in me a spirit of scepticism in order to be able to discriminate what is from what is not in order to reach the truth. I pray for even more awareness for wolves dress up in different clothing in order to appear as sheep Amen.

⁴ If a widow has children or grandchildren, they should first learn their religious duty to their own family and make some repayment to their parents; for this is pleasing in God's sight.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 4)

Oh God my Father as sons and daughters we are part of a family, and therefore we have duties to our families. We are to grow together in both flesh and spirit, especially when our parents become of an age and they depend on us for physical support and spiritual empowerment Amen.

⁵ The real widow, left alone, has set her hope on God and continues in supplication and prayers night and day; ⁶ but the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verses 5 to 6)

Oh God my beloved Father I pray that You give me the wisdom to discern the true Catholic and Christian from the false Catholic and Christian especially in my line of practice Amen.

⁷ Give these commands as well, so that they may be above reproach.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 7)

Oh God my beloved Father and mentor. I thank You for each verse of the Bible, for by means of it, You teach me one important lesson after another. I thank You for giving me such insights and reflections that I am able because You provided me with the opportunity of sharing it with others Amen.

⁸ And whoever does not provide for family members, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 8)

Oh God, my beloved Father, even though I am in the process of being separated I still give maintenance for the upkeep of my daughter. Amen.

⁹ Let a widow be put on the list if she is not less than sixty years old and has been married only once; ¹⁰ she must be well attested for her good works, as one who has brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the saints feet, helped the afflicted, and devoted herself to doing good in every way.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verses 9 to 10)

Oh God my Father, if a person has matched such high criteria she would already be a saint and is worthy of a place in heaven. May we all imitate such high values Amen.

¹¹ But refuse to put younger widows on the list; for when their sensual desires alienate them from Christ, they want to marry, ¹² and so they incur condemnation for having violated their first pledge.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verses 11 to 12)

Oh God, my beloved Father I pray for all nuns young and old for they have dedicated their lives to You Amen. I pray that You empower them in the vows that they have given Amen.

¹³ Besides that, they learn to be idle, gadding about from house to house; and they are not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not say.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 13)

Oh God my blessed Father I pray for an active spirit that always drives me to speak the truth in all situations regardless if its in my favour or against me Amen. I pray for Your blessings at a time when the world is ridiculing and cursing me Amen.

¹⁴ So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, and manage their households, so as to give the adversary no occasion to revile us.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 14)

Oh God if there is one thing that You do not like is time wasted in practices such as idle talk and blabbering about others. You prefer us to even be married in order to have something to occupy our lives than to fall into such vices amen. Therefore when we become aware that we have nothing in substance to talk about and that we are on the verge of starting to talk about others or about trivial things it is better for us body and soul to stop this or that activity Amen.

¹⁵For some have already turned away to follow Satan.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 15)

Oh God, my beloved Father, I pray for those of us, who have willfully decided to turn against You and follow Satan. I pray for their souls my God and Father that You may snatch them away and that nobody will be lost Amen.

¹⁶ If any believing woman has relatives who are really widows, let her assist them; let the church not be burdened, so that it can assist those who are real widows.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 16)

Oh God, my beloved Father, the Roman Catholic Church and other churches, gives a wide variety of services to many people from different walks of life. I pray that with the skills that You have given me I can be of service to many others. I pray that I get my warrant so that I can be of service to many others apart from my personal clients Amen.

¹⁷ Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching; ¹⁸ for the scripture says, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain," and, "The laborer deserves to be paid."

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verses 17 to 18)

Oh God my beloved Father I pray for our elderly, for although they have grown up to a certain age they are still worthy of respect and love from all members of society. They are a mirror of what we will be in the future if we reach up to that age Amen. I thank You God for giving us such wise people Amen. I pray even for the sick and impaired for even though their condition may not be that positive, in their weakness, they are still strong, and nobody can stop them proclaiming Your Word Amen.

¹⁹ Never accept any accusations against an elder except on the evidence on two or three witnesses.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 19)

Oh God my beloved Father, this indeed is very wise counsel because people can be easily misjudged and thus having proof makes the decision more credible and watertight Amen. Thank You Jesus for such wise counsel Amen.

²⁰ As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest also may stand in fear.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 20)

Oh God, my Father, in order to rebuke others one has to be pure in one's own actions, him or herself. for I cannot rebuke others in the same sin that I myself happen to be aiming to overcome with Your loving grace and mercy. Oh God, my Father, I feel that I am not in a position to judge, however, I can explain the consequences to others and then it is their responsibility to either chose to turn away from sin or to remain in bondage Amen.

²¹ In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels, I warn you to keep these instructions without prejudice, doing nothing on the basis of partiality.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 21)

Amen oh God my Father, I pray that You help me in remaining faithful towards You and Your ways by never making exceptions to sin and its deceitful ways by making excuses in favour of this and that and other situations Amen.

²² Do not ordain anyone hastily, and do not participate in the sins of the others; keep yourself pure.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verse 22)

Oh God my Father, I am currently seeking to be in my own company and only spending the necessary amount of time possible with humanity, so that I preserve the peace of mind, body and spirit. When I am in the company of others I am not feeling comfortable, I long to be with You and with people who have fellowship with You Amen.

²³ No longer drink only water, but take a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments. ²⁴ The sins of some people are conspicuous and precede them to judgment, while the sins of others follow them there.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verses 23 to 24)

Some sins oh God my Father are really addictive as in compulsions and fetishes so much that as humans they condition our lifestyle and behaviour, I pray for healing in such areas for in some way or another we may all be addicted both materially and in other areas. Our main addiction may be a sin itself. I pray that I become a God addict hooked only on You my God and Father Amen.

²⁵ So also good works are conspicuous; and even when they are not, they cannot remain hidden.

(The First Letter of St. Paul to Timothy Chapter 5 verses 25)

Oh God my Father, as much as crime and bad news are described as being outstanding news headlines, so maybe treated our good acts, which reflect Your Holy presence in us. I pray that such positive news is given more opportunity to be transmitted for such positive news is very healthy for all of humanity Amen.

Oh God my beloved Father, I would like to end this meditation on the First Lette of St. Paul to Timothy with the following prayer:

Oh God, my Father, I pray to we profess obedience to You and to the Church and the instructions that You give us, even though at times we may not understand or accept the reasons supporting certain decisions. Amen.
